From my earliest school days in New Jersey, I struggled with dyslexia until I met a teacher who helped me realize the power of being dyslexic. The late Jennifer Collum-Glassman enabled me to understand the “gifts” my dyslexia offered: imagination, artistry, dexterity and the ingenuity to create artwork that allowed me to express my innermost feelings. She gave me the confidence to believe in my innate talent and to act on it. Having created artwork for family and friends for years, I launched my professional career as an artist.
Inspiration comes to me through the natural world as experienced both personally and through the eyes of those I love. The flight of birds, the majesty of trees, the beauty of flowers, the eternal waves of the sea, and the vastness of the sky inspire my creativity. Depending on my mood and materials at hand, I utilize various elements in creating my work. Paintings with dimension, dimensional photos, embroidery, vintage stamps are among the items I enjoy working with to create contemporary pieces. Each piece is handmade and unique .
